(Here's a shorter version in the third person for concert programs, news releases etc.)

I'm a bassist and concert producer living in the Boston Massachusetts area. I play mostly mostly jazz, though I've dabbled in musical theater, bluegrass, folk, klezmer and other Jewish music. I also play cello (mostly classical music).

I have had the good fortune to perform extensively over the past few years with the jazz pianist Harvey Diamond, one of Lennie Tristano's last protégés, and pianist/saxophonist/bandleader/composer James Merenda, both as a member of his band TickleJuice and also in more mainstream jazz settings. I try to learn from everybody I play with, but these two have had a profound influence on me as a musician.

I have also performed with NEA Jazz Masters Dave Liebman and Sheila Jordan. Others I've performed with include: Piano: Mihoko Abe, John Arcaro, Henrique Eisenmann, Molly Flannery, John Funkhouser, Pamela Hines, Adam Janjigian, Doug Johnson, Yoko Miwa, Hankus Netsky, Eric Ostling, Joe Reid, Alan Rowe, Stanley Sagov, Mark Shilansky, Burnett Thompson, Alexei Tsiganov, Eugene Uman, Frank Wilkins; Guitar: John Dirac, Nick Grondin, Draa Hobbs, Ken Navarro, Alain Pacowski, Jamie Stewardson; Saxophones/reeds: Jerry Bergonzi, Nick Brust, Tad Elmer, Ken Field, George Garzone, Russ Gershon, Grace Kelly, Charlie Kohlhase, Scott Mullett, Roy Nathanson, Kurtis Rivers, Stan Strickland, Andy Voelker; Trumpet/brass: Howard Brofsky, Jeff Galindo, Phil Grenadier, Jason Palmer, Jeff Stout; Vocalists: Hannah Rose Diamond, Claire Dickson, Dominique Eade, Katya Dreyer-Oren, Isabel Stover, Gwenn Vivian; Bass: Harvie S; Drums: Claire Arenius, Mike Connors, Gillian DeLear, Gary Fieldman, Dave Fox, Scott Goulding, Bob Gullotti, Joe Hunt, Steve Langone, Renato Malavasi, Miki Matsuki, Austin McMahon, Francisco Mela, Joe Musacchia, Brooke Sofferman, Etc: Rich Greenblatt, vibes Bands: Currently a member of James Merenda's TickleJuice. Have performed with Dan Gabel and the Abletones, the Winiker Band, Charlie Kohlhase's Explorers Club, Rico Barr's Jump 'N' Jive Review, About Time, the Washington Jazz Battalion big band.

Mostly self-taught on bass, I have taken some lessons from Richard Davis and more recently from Cameron Brown and Marcus McLaurine at the Vermont Jazz Center, as well as coaching from Harvey Diamond, Stacy Dillard, Ran Blake, Francisco Mela, Satoshi Takeishi, Eugene Uman, Scott Mullett, Francisco Mela, Howard Brofsky, Pete Yellin and Helmut Kagerer.

I have studied cello with Glenn Garlick, Ervin Klinkon and Ben Levinson, and as well as a master class with János Starker. I have been a member of the Boston Philharmonic (Recordings with the Boston Philharmonic include Beethoven Symphony No. 9 and Stravinsky Rite of Spring) and the Fairfax Symphony and have performed with the Masterworks Chorale, the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the National Gallery Orchestra.

I also teach both cello and bass.

During the day I work as a math tutor and computer science tutor in Lexington MA. Before that I worked as a math teacher and software engineer.
